I Know I Can!!!

Ok, so I promised pictures, but unfortunaetly my dad's phone is not wanting to cooperate so no pictures...yes I'm a little ticked, but that's life. I'm now home from Asheville and have already started Latin Classes again. Tomorrow I work and Wednesday I have Envirothon and Bible Studay and AFY. Then on Thursday I work and Friday I also work and there's a small chance of AFY...although I think that will be on Saturday. Then my week starts all over again.

I have some great news though!!! I'm the Costume Design Intern for ACT! For Youth's production of Footloose!!!! I'm super excited, but really nervous because even though I'm an "intern" I'm sort of in command. When thinking about it I feel like I have to grab for a trash can, but inside I know I can do it! I think I can....I think I can.....I know I can.....I know I can!!!!

Cinderella

I've been so busy lately! And soon even busier! The ACT! For Youth production of Cinderella is in full swing and I am the Student Assistant Costumer...yes, that's the fancy title that they've given me this show. Even though the head costumer will be there during "heck week" she will not be there during the shows. So I'm in charge. Yes, there are nearly 40 kids and I will be in charge. I might loose my stomach on opening night, but this is what I want to do with my life and this is a chance to shine. I'm hoping it all goes well. Although I have my doubts with certain people in the cast, but I'm praying all goes well. I'm thinking about applying for the paid position for the upcoming production of "Footloose" but I don't know. Still just toying that idea around.

Fun...

Well, there isn't any Latin today...even though it is Monday. Tonight Jonathan and I are going to a 4H meeting. Our Envirothon team is also a 4H group...except without all the animals and none of us live on farms. Today I'm going to go sew at the head costumer's house. Last Saturday I made funnel sleeves on two shirts and two crevats. Today we should be sewing hats. I can't wait...should be fun!

National Novel Writing Month

Well, I've decided to do the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which is where I write in one of my novels or start and finish a novel in the month of November. The goal is to write 50,000 words, which is approximately 175 pages. I'm either going to write in one of my three novels: Just My Life (pre civil war era), A Young Con (1870's Kansas State Penitienary), No-name novel (1620's-40's Indentured servitude in America). Please comment and tell me which one I should do!

Atlanta...

I had a ton of fun at the Amazing Grace 360 retreat in Atlanta, Georgia! On Friday my family and I just walked around Atlanta and I saw the Margaret Mitchell house where she wrote "Gone With the Wind". We didnt' go inside, but just seeing it was cool. I came to the conclusion while walking around Atlanta that I don't like big cities. There were too many people crammed into such a small place. I need fresh air to breathe and open spaces! Seeing all the large skyscrapers was cool. They were all so tall and we tried to go up in one, but weren't able to. Here are some pictures from the retreat:

Mom, Me, and Mrs. Gail...Mrs. Denise was sitting at another table.

Almost 2,000 women at the banquet on Saturday night.

Dessert at the banquet!!! Lemmon tart!!! Yes, it was very good.

Me...note the earrings from India that I bought at the retreat.

I had to add this one...This is the side of the Cobbs Performin Arts Centre. The front was even prettier, but I was unable to get a picture of it. This picture was taken from our hotel parking lot. I wish I could've gone inside it!!! I bet it was beautiful!!!

That was my trip to Atlanta!

Atlanta, Georgia

Yes, I'm going to Atlanta this weekend for the Amazing Grace 360 retreat. My family is leaving at 6am tomorrow! Ahh! That means today will be packed full. While my mom and I are at the retreat my dad and three siblings will be visiting museums and such. I will probably tell about it more once we get there. I can't wait! It's time for the world travelers to go on another adventure!

Baking And Decorating A Cake

I started yesterday by making Marshmallow Fondant, which had to sit overnight before being used (my siblings experianced much agony and dismay due to this). I never thought making fondant would be so hard. Yes, there was only 3 ingrediants...Marshmallows, water, and powder sugar. What nearly killed me was the major upper arm workout that took nearly 15 minutes. Kneading that little devil actually brought sweat to my brow. Well, enough of that.

Today I made the cake (chocolate from a box) and decorated it. It took one try to cover the cake in fondant thanks to my brother Jonathan. The roses on the other hand took about 7 trys before I actually made one that looked worthy enough to be placed on my cake. The frosting is White and Creamy (Aldi's brand w/ added powder sugar). The frosting between the two layers of cake and also gluing the fondant on is Cream Cheese Frosting (also Aldi's brand). All in all it was pretty good for my first try. Although, afterward I was sick of snacking on frosting, fondant and cake. I think it's amazing that I didn't get sick. It was fun and I can't wait to do it again!

Sick...

I'm sick...*sigh*. I've been reading "Persuasion" by Jane Austen. It's pretty good, but sometimes it's hard to read. I'm doing some embroidery and some writing, but mostly on short stories. My novel has come to a stand still and I can't seem to get it going again. Hopefully I'll get it going soon and I would love to get well, also!

Tomorrow... And What I Missed Today.

Well, I didn't make it to the Library... ugh! I really wanted to go today, now I'll have to wait until Wednesday and I'm not even sure if I'll be able to go then... *sigh*. Tomorrow I work all day and then around 5 or 6pm I'm headed to the NC State Campus for RUF (Reformed University Fellowship), should be fun! Going to try to squeeze in some learning on my lunch break, but it depends on how my day goes!

Monday And Assignment #3

Today, since it's Monday, I'm going to Latin Class for an hour, then hopefully going to the Library, and then AFY (Theater) to do costumes for two and a half hours. That's what I'm doing today!

Plus, I'm working on an assignment: To Make A Blue Print Of My Dream House. It's coming along really well and I can't wait to get it done and down on paper...it's made out of shipping containers!!!

Saturday :)

Saturdays...they seem like just part of the week to me. Usually just as busy as the other week days. But thankfully today will not be quite as busy as usual. Due to the fender bender I had on Thursday which caused me to pull a muscle in my neck and shoulder I will not be going to pull costumes for "Cinderella". I'm going to my little sisters (ages 7 and 11) soccer games and inbetween those times I will be reading and working on some assignments. Well...I'm off to meet the day!

Wednesday...

Today has been tiring and a bit boring. I'm a part of an envirothon team and due to that I have to go to many classes even though I'm not studying what they teach. I'm majoring in Forestry and Wildlife, the 5 hour class was on Soils. There's also Aquatics. Soils I find very tiring and complicated and I have no idea what the teacher is talking about half the time. The room is like being in a public schoolroom. Plain walls and no source of happiness or freedom. Next week I will go for another 5 hours...fun.

Assignment #2

Assignment #2: Get an interview with an author or blogger.
I have sent an email to Deeanne Gist, one of my favorite authors and who inspires me to write. Hopefully she will respond and be willing to answer my questions and give me some good advice. I'm really hoping so!

Today...

Well, not only did I work today, but on my lunch break I also did a whole week's worth of Latin. (Which is the language that this blog's name is in). I've also read up to the second chapter in "King Solomon's Mines" and I've read about 40 pages of "Daily Life on the American Frontier". So I'm doing pretty well.

Tuesdays

Today I'm working from 8:45am - 3:30pm. I will read one of the nonfiction books on my lunch break and whenever I can. I am aiming to be done with this assignment in one month, but am pretty sure it will take longer.
